GET TO KNOW LEXIE
What 3 words best describe you?
The one (and) only!
Where are your favorite places to shop?
When I’m at the mall, I shop at Nordstrom - they have a little bit of everything. However, when I’m traveling or out of town, I love going to little ‘one of a kind’ shops because I can find things that no one else at school will have.
What are you most proud of and why?
I’m most proud of my social skills. I usually hate talking about myself but for the sake of this interview, I’ll admit that I think my personality has gained me quite a few opportunities - YouTube being a prime example.
What advice do you have for aspiring beauty gurus?
Choose your username wisely :)
What message do you have for your subscribers?
You just wait! One day, we are all going to meet up and spend a weekend together!
In addition to your YouTube channel, what do you like to do in your free time?
I’m one of the 5 founders of NoVa (Northern Virginia) Operation Smile. We are a non-profit organization that works through Global Operation Smile to provide free surgeries to children with a cleft lip or palate.
We’re very excited for you to get to know Sabrina, our current GuruStar Spotlight! Sabrina was selected by Special Guest and YouTube expert Annabella Daily. Please read below to learn more about Sabrina, and look out for special ‘Dear GuruStar’ features from Sabrina throughout the week!

What 3 words best describe you?
Girly, outgoing, and spontaneous :)
What are you most proud of and why?
I’m most proud of how far my YouTube channel has come! I’m no Juicystar07, but it’s still shocking to me that I was able to build up an audience of people who actually try out my tutorials and want to listen to what I have to say! After a year of being on YouTube, that to me is still unbelievable.
What 3 products can’t you live without?
Definitely chapstick, black pencil liner, and foundation.
What’s in your makeup bag or purse right now?
This switches daily depending on what makeup I’m wearing. Right now - Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick (cannot live without this!), Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion, a makeup sponge, an eyebrow spool, and MAC Lipglass in Cultured. All for quick touch-ups throughout the day!
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I shop everywhere! I love going to boutiques in my hometown or in NYC that aren’t very well-known because that’s where I find tons of stuff that nobody else has! I also love Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Bebe, and BCBG.
MORE ABOUT YOUTUBE
Who are your beauty icons or sources of inspiration?
I get inspiration from so many different places, but my #1 place for inspiration is actually on YouTube! Other gurus inspire me to try new looks more often than celebrities or magazines do!
What advice do you have for aspiring beauty gurus?
If you want to make a channel, then go for it! There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. The beauty community is filled with such inviting and supportive people, and you’ll see that it is so easy to become friends with other gurus because of your similar interests. Don’t be afraid of what other people at school might think if they find out because in the end, you’re doing what you love and what is best for you. I openly admitted to having a beauty channel a few weeks ago in class, and I’m glad I did! Nobody was mean about it, and it’s such a relief not to have to keep it a secret anymore!
What message do you have for your subscribers?
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! I’m not quite sure where I would be right now without all of your love and support. All of you mean the world to me <3
OUTSIDE OF YOUTUBE
In addition to your YouTube channel, what do you like to do in your free time?
I love to act! I’ve been acting since I was 9 years old, and I love to keep myself busy with theatre productions. Right now, I’m working on Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” in my school’s drama club, and I am playing the role of Abigail Williams.
How did you get involved in pageants?
About 2 years ago, I got a recruitment letter in the mail to compete in the 2011 Miss New York Teen USA Pageant, and I decided to apply and give it a try because it was something I had never tried before. I ended up loving it and placed in the Top 20 in my first pageant!
What was your favorite part of being Miss New York Teen USA?
I loved competing at the national Miss Teen USA pageant. Looking back on it, I can’t believe that I was actually on that stage and placed in the Top 16. I also love knowing that I’m able to make a difference in other people’s lives and be a positive role model for girls all over New York!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself in college studying communications and broadcasting to eventually become an anchorwoman or TV host.
